Abstract This article studies the combination of literary genres in the work of Ricardo Piglia. The works consulted for this study are Formas breves (1999) andEl ultimo lector (2005) taking into consideration "Hotel Almagro" in the former and "Prólogo" in the latter. The intention to combine diverse discourses such as story, essay and autobiography is evident in both works. "Hotel Almagro" is a hybrid text with an autobiographical discourse and style but with the narration of a great anecdote. "Prólogo" to El ultimo lector was originally written as a story and subsequently transformed until it adopted a hybrid style mixing narrative and essay elements. This exercise suggests the participation of the reader.Downloads
