The main goals of a healthcare institution are outlined as well as the challenges it faces in view of a natural disaster. A response from the perspective of person
centered bioethics, based on the intrinsic dignity of the person and open to the common good, is proposed. Finally a reference to a hospital in Puerto Rico that
faced tropical hurricane Maria serves to illustrate the efforts to comply with the bioethical responsibilities before, during and after the adverse event..
