Abstract

Historically, cultures have been attracted by the permanent reflection on death, this is and will be the eternal unknown of human cultures. Anthropology has a relevant role, since it has contributed to the documentation of the various cultural manifestations around death; There are multiple expressions, traditional and contemporary, existing in Mexico regarding this issue. The interest of this article focuses on interdisciplinary contemporary expressions regarding death, represented through the sound creation of Zael Ortega, which represents a challenge for the work of anthropology in the contemporary world. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to show the plasticity and validity that the anthropological discipline represents to address the multiple contemporary interdisciplinary cultural expressions, in this case in relation to the theme of death and sounds, which poses a challenge for the Anthropology, and in turn, allows to show the capacity of this discipline for its approach through sound ethnography.
