Abstract

Being a bridge between the literary text and the readers is one of the most important functions of criticism. A critic is a specialized reader who approaches the artistic text to try to make sense of it, since, in that text, its creator has offered a vision of the world (in the novel, the essay, the poetry, the short story or the theater). However, the artistic work, once delivered to the printing press and appearing in bookstores, is a work considered finished by the author, thus initiating the appropriation of the reader. The work becomes the work of all those who read and understand it. However, the reading may deviate and the receiver may fall into an over-interpretation, giving the text a meaning that it does not suggest at any time.
