THE DIDACTIC USE OF POPULAR FESTIVALS;
THE CASE OF THE CARNIVAL OF CALNALI, HIDALGO

This article analyzes the school use of a popular festival in two elementary schools in the state of Hidalgo. The work is focused on the municipality of Calnali and the celebration of its carnival. With the support of ethnography as a methodological tool, we observed the dynamics of the festivity within the schools of this town and interviewed retired and in-service teachers, culminating the work in March 2025. The results allow us to affirm that the carnival is implemented by a ritual exercise reproduced from the environment to the schools and although it is a didactic resource still not widespread, at the same time it is recognized as a form of inclusion of students in the new study plans that promote the teaching of local and regional cultures and that reveals its potential as a didactic resource in the learning development processes.
