Abstract

This article shows the analysis of some movie sequences from the films Los insólitos peces gato (Claudia Sainte-Luce, 2013) y Roma (Alfonso Cuarón, 2018) to answer the following question: ¿How the sonic imaginary is created over the loss of a loved one in a cinematographic product? Both the theoretical and methodological proposals from Michel Chion in The Audiovision (1993) are stated, and some ideas exposed by Murray Shafer in The New Soundscape (1970) as well as some concepts to understand the structure of the soundtrack in cinematography, according to Samuel Larson in War in the text Thought of the sound: an I troductuon to the theory and the practice of the cinematographic sound language (2010).

The result of the analysis shows the sound aspects that standout in the selected films in which the imaginary of the characters deaths are identified.
